ACTS manages properties in eight states, but a new deal has lent them more properties to manage in a consolidation move that could lead to better prices for seniors who live in the Mid-Atlantic States.
The firm now serves more than 10,000 seniors thanks to a deal with Peninsula United Methodist Homes, combining a variety of senior housing included skilled nursing care and assisted living facilities. The move makes it one of the largest providers in the United States.
Four new properties will be managed by ACTS and the nonprofit could spread the cost savings of diversifying their operations over more properties. As it stands, the company now operates facilities in eight states spread over 23 different multi-use facilities.
ACTS is one of the Largest Faith-based Providers in the U.S.
Uniquely, ACTS ranks as one of the largest faith-based providers for senior living options in the United States, and has often operated as an umbrella organization for smaller operators like PUMH. For some families, it may provide a sense of home for aging relatives who desire Christianity as part of their daily routine.
“[PUMH's] dedication to the comfort and care of seniors in accordance with instructions in the Scriptures is consistent with the culture of our company, and complements our desire to grow our ministry along the eastern seaboard,” said ACTS President and Chief Executive Officer Marvin Mashner.
Whether a facility management firm that calls its operations “a ministry” appeals to you as a potential new home for aging loved ones or not, the move represents a key aspect of how people should research their assisted living facility options.
Business shouldn’t play such a key role in pricing of care for seniors, but consolidation among providers should mean a cost savings. So someone who was considering a spot at PUMH or ACTS-affiliated residences should expect the cost savings to trickle down to monthly costs.
That also translates to other facilities. If you already keep a finger on the pulse of assisted living communities in the news, you can use the information when you sit down to negotiate monthly rates.
