If my mother has very little money how can she afford to live in an assisted living facility?
My 88 year old mother is currently recovering from cancer surgury. She had her bladder removed. She lived independently up until the surgury but is currently living with my sister. It is doubtful she will be able to live alone now as her mobility is limited and she has to deal with the stoma. We are beginning to look into assisted living facilities for her but they are rather expensive and she has very little money or assets. How do we proceed?

Hi Dwight,
Many states have Medicaid waivers available for a # of residents for assisted living. I would contact your state licensing agency, you can find this information in our directory.Ask them what, if any, waivers they may have, and what other forms of assistance might be available for someone seeking assisted living.
