Why no medicare at an assisted living facility?
An assisted living facilitiy we're considering for our 93-year-old mother with mild dementia posts on its site, "We are a private pay facility that does not accept Medicare." Is this common? Medical costs could bankrupt us if Medicare can't be used.

Hello,
Many assisted living facilities are indeed private-pay communities. Some facilities and states offer Medicare waivers which might help cover the cost. I would contact your local Medicare office to get an idea of all potential options available.
