The resident and/or the family members of the resident. Very few if any major medical insurance plans cover the cost of assisted living. Some individuals may have enough income from pensions or investments to pay for the facilities themselves, but many are not so lucky. Even if an individual can afford the assisted living apartment, they may also have a number of debts and bills. Family members must think about ways to soak up the considerable expense of a typical assisted living arrangement.
