My Mom lived in independent living at the Terraces for 10 years. For the most part, she was very happy. She had a nice apartment, lots of friends, was active and enjoyed living there. After she died, I discovered 2 serious issues. Firstly, all of her good jewelry was completely gone. All that was left was her costume jewelry. Whoever took it, had time to go through it and steal all the expensive stuff. Mom never had guests in her apartment, but did have a few aides, all of whom I knew and were from reputable companies (ie visiting angels). Otherwise, it was the Terraces cleaning staff that had access. I'm not accusing them, but I wish we had kept her expensive jewelry under lock. Additionally, Mom developed dementia which was bad enough that she turned over her checking account to me. She couldn't even remember how to write a check. The management at the Terraces were aware of her deteriorating status and had recommended we put her in assisted living a few months before her death. During that time, they got her to sign an agreement to pay their non-profit (which helps people who can't afford to pay, so the Terraces gets their money) $50,000 at the time of her death!! She couldn't write them a check so they had her sign a promissory note! I found the agreement soon before she died and she had no memory of it and didn't want to give it to them. I hired a lawyer but the Terraces fought back with their lawyers and, unfortunately, I didn't pursue it any further due to escalating legal costs. I feel they took great advantage of her. Beware.

My mother was just a patent there for 10 days after being released from the hospital. She received atrocious care from the nurses assigned to her as well as the dieticians. She has food allergies and swallowing problems. She was denied the medication prescribed to help her swallow and given food she was allergic to the first couple of days, then given pureed food unnecessarily several times. She was also brought things she told the staff she couldn't swallow, then brought things she was allergic to, then angrily given a peanut butter sandwich and said that's your last option. She was ignored by staff and treated with angrily and with no compassion whatsoever! She read that a certain day patients would received a shower, but never got one. After addressing these things with the docto , things were virtually no better and thankfully she would be in her way home in two more days. There is no excuse for the horrible care she received while a patient there and I would caution everyone to choose another rehab facility! The pt's were excellent though and should not be part of the scathing review in leaving!

Wonderful place if you don't ask Viva Stoney for help if it wasn't for the help of the other two receptions I wouldn't know if my mother transportation for her appointments was set up. This is constant thing when i ask viva for help nothing every gets done I have to wait until Tuesdays or evening receptions to come in just to have things be done for my mother it shouldn't take 2 weeks to have my mother carpet clean if I didnt ask the evening receptions if there was work order done who knows if it would have been done such a nice place but need help with employees
