I have a totally different experience with Sunrise than my sibling, John H. I wanted to make sure that Sunrise staff does not believe John is talking for the family. John is talking only for himself and comments that he is attributing to my mom (I have not heard her say anything like what he is saying). My mom seems very happy to be there and is receiving good care. Ironically, John H. selected this home for her so many of his comments seem misplaced. Faith has been very kind and caring, the caregivers go above and beyond, the dog "Marley" brings smiles, and the atmosphere is homey and clean.

Very interesting two previous reviews posted at same time. Hm, it seems like the same person with fake names. Sunrise of Scottsdale it's a great place for seniors. Managers are amazing and they really CARE. Residents are happy and healthy. All departments do a great job. I would recomend that place to everyone.

I agree with Ms. Brown's review. My mother is currently a resident in the memory care unit and is not having a good experience. The facility is very dated, run down and shabby. While some of the staff members seem great, the management is not and there seems to be a strict hierarchical structure in which the staff fears management. The executive director, Kathi, is totally non-responsive, as is the coordinator for the memory care unit named Faith. I was onsite one evening around 7:45pm and was shocked by how the memory care coordinator (Faith) was talking down to certain residents in what I felt was a disrespectful, condescending and totally unacceptable manner. I am guessing she must not have realized there were visitors nearby. I had become concerned about this very issue because a couple weeks earlier, I told my Mom the staff seemed nice, and she responded by saying "sometimes they are nice but sometimes they are definitely not nice" which this incident seemed to confirm. My mother refers to Faith as "the warden" and has complained that she feels like she is in prison, which is also very concerning. The meals are horrible and the facility, which feels like a time capsule from the 1980s, desperately needs to be updated and thoroughly cleaned. My mother refers to it as a "fleatrap" and sadly I cannot disagree with her assessment. There's also very little in terms of outdoor space. To clarify the review from "Susan H.W." above, I did not select this facility for my mother; I selected a facility at 32nd St/Glenrosa in Phoenix that is very different from Sunrise. I confirm that the statements and opinions in my review are only those of me and my mother.
