My mother has been living at Grace Eldercare for over a year and a half. She transferred from a skilled nursing facility to be closer to me and reduce the cost of her care substantially. When she was admitted, she was bedridden and had a large bedsore on her lower back. The owner of Grace Eldercare, Mrs. Helen Brouwer, was able to clear up the sore in a matter of months and has prevented any re-occurrences. In addition, due to Helen's program of daily exercise, my mother is once again able to walk with the aid of a walker. This is something I didn't think would ever happen again. Helen is also able to provide transportation to doctors appointments as needed. Every time I visit, my mother appears clean and well fed. In the summertime, Helen often enlists the help of a neighbor, whose mother is also a resident there, to barbecue steaks and hamburgers along with corn on the cob and baked potato. I have often sampled the fare on such occasions. Very tasty. The facility is s spacious home located high in the El Cerrito hills with a view of the bay from the front windows. The accommodations are single or double occupancy bedrooms, with a spacious living room. Rooms are also provided with satellite TV at no extra charge. Helen is licensed to care for up to 6 patients, both ambulatory and non-ambulatory. She also will accept hospice care patients. Helen has proven herself to be an extraordinarily dedicated and patient elder care provider. I believe that my mother is getting better, more personalized care than she was before, and at nearly half the price!

Grace Eldercare is an excellent facility that I would recommend to anyone looking for high quality personal care at a reasonable cost. The owner, Helen Brouwer, is a skilled and dedicated professional who takes her job very seriously. My mother has been a patient at Grace Eldercare for over two years now. She suffers from Alzheimer's Disease and arrived at the facility with bedsores. Mrs. Brouwer's diligent care ensured that the sores healed properly. In addition, Mrs. Brouwer has proven to be a compassionate and patient caregiver in dealing with my mother's cognitive difficulties. From what I have observed, patients are kept clean and well fed. Mrs. Brouwer goes out of her way to provide nourishing and palatable food to her patients. Some nursing facilities I'm familiar with could learn a thing or two about food preparation from her. Grace Eldercare operates out of a large private residence in the El Cerrito hills. The facility has a large common living room and a beautiful view of the San Francisco Bay Bridge. Patient rooms are all provided with free satellite TV service. The grounds are fenced to provide a safe and secure environment to residents. The facility also has a sturdy concrete wheelchair ramp to accommodate patients with mobility difficulties. In all, my mother has been comfortable and happy during her stay at Grace Eldercare. The facility's slogan is "We care faithfully". This is, in fact, what I have found to be the case.
