The place is beautiful. It is very peaceful. We went there on New year's day, so the other place on our way going there was packed. We will definitely coming back there in the future. There were snow at the time we visited the place. A lot of traffic going there at that day, so maybe next time, don't come on New year's day, as it will be very traffic on the way.

The first thing we noticed was the warmth as we came in out of the cold. Secondly, and so exhilarating, the view!!! This is a beautiful place to stay and we would definitely return. So glad we got to celebrate our anniversary and make another beautiful memory for ourselves. The owners are very sweet and accomodating. They made us feel "at home". My #1 suggestion would just be to add some hot chocolate packs to the coffee and tea that are available in the Common Room. At this time of year especially, it would be something the kids can enjoy too.?

We get there at 3pm, the time we were told to check in. It's not obvious where the main entrance is located, so I had to call the number on the door so she could let us in. She was on the phone with her attorney, apparently, and said she was going to upgrade our room, but we needed to wait for her hour long phone call to end. So we waited a little after an hour and she finally came out and show us the room we would have gotten, which would have been fine. We only needed beds because we were staying at a camp ground close by. She gave us the key to our door and that was it, no other information about anything else. The first night I left the lodge at 11pm to go to the camp site and came back around 2am, no problem. The next night we tried to come back around 9pm, the door was locked. The key she gave us only opens the inside door to our room. There is a keyless entry, but it was never anything that was mentioned to us when checking in. I called the phone number on the door 6 times, texted her, knocked on the door very loudly and rang the door bell(which I think is broken). No answer. We went back to the campsite and ended up sleeping in our car. By 4am it was unbearably cold and we couldn't even sleep. I noticed I had a text from the lodge owner, asking where we were and that the door was open. That text was sent at 1:30am, 4 hours after we left. She offered us a free night stay for the next night, but we were pretty much over it after that. Paid for 2 night, only got to use one. The rooms are very clean, floor heater, tv, walk in closet, dressers and bathroom. There's a dining area and beautiful views. Just remember to ask how to get back inside when they lock the doors and don't answer the phone... oooor the doorbell..... oooor the loud knocking on the door.

Great place. Super calm and nice staff. No tv but it was nice to just have a nice quiet evening.

What a fantastic sunrise view from the BlueJay room #6... or for that matter, any of the rooms on the lake side of the lodge! My wife and I stayed 2-nights for a little weekend getaway, to mountain bike and visit Julian. JoAnn and Ray could not have been any more accommodating and went over and above to take care of our needs. We would definitely go back and highly recommend Lake Cuyamaca Lodge.
