I can't say enough about how wonderful the people are at Melrose Gardens. Beautiful place, clean, always upbeat and positive staff. The staff are very involved with each resident all day, providing wonderful activities that entertain them all. No other place around. I was so impressed when I first walked in. Gorgeous flowers are displayed all around the foyer. Very nice people greeted me when I walked in.

Ron, Ivan, Dee Dee, Jackie, and the whole staff have been lifesavers in taking care of Mom and her needs. Their facility is small enough for me to know everyone involved in Mom's care and for their staff to attend individually to all residents as may be necessary. Yet it is large enough to offer amenities found typically in larger facilities that lack the personal touch. It is that personal touch in caring for Mom (and me too) like family that makes a huge difference. I stop by as often as I can unannounced as if it were my own home, never finding Mom alone or unattended other than to sleep at night even as they continue to check on and monitor her sleep. They are always engaging her and her fellow residents in activities, events, meals or snacks to the point of even doting on her and the others as they may from time to time need more attention. It is such a relief that they keep me informed on everything involving Mom too. I know she is cared for by what has become an extended family who clearly care deeply about the residents and the families that they serve.

I moved my mother from out of state to Melrose Gardens. She was in an Assisted Living in New York and doing very poorly but was there to be with her sister. But at almost 90 and struggling with daily health issues it was time to move her closer to us so we could manage her needs more closely. It was very concerning for us to split up these sisters but it had to be done. She has been at Melrose Gardens for nearly 4 months and has gained an entirely new lease on life. Initially the transition was difficult as mom was insecure about her needs being met and the timing of the caregivers etc. She is rather needy in that she is wheelchair bound and vision impaired. So there was an initial anxiety. But as the weeks turned into months not only did her anxiety dissipate, she began to really bloom and prosper. Ron the director took great care in placing mom with some like-minded and cognitively similar ladies to sit with in the dining room. They have grown into a fabulous and lively group of friends. This has opened up her world. Just the other day after a few doctors' appointments and a late lunch mom was not hungry for dinner. I asked her if she was just going to stay in her room since she did not want to eat. She energetically told me that she needed to go to dinner to catch up on the day with her friends. I was amazed. The wellness director is totally on top of any health related issues, I feel like I can finally breath, knowing that a caring professional is really on the case. The staff is gold. The caregivers and Medtechs really care and treat the residence with love and kindness. You can feel that it's a happy place when you walk in. Smiling friendly faces...and you know their jobs are NOT easy. Very, very different from mom's last assisted living. So I KNOW the difference. My mother has macular degeneration so has always struggled with activities. When she first arrived she did not want to participate in art classes and the like. The activity directors thoughtfully encouraged her and drew her out to participate. She is now painting us pictures every week and LOVING it. When mom arrived she could barely put one foot in front of the other - virtually completely immobile. She has walked more in the last month than she has in the last three years. I am very grateful to Ron and his staff for bringing my mom back to life!!!

We have been to countless communities to find the right fit for our mother and Melrose Gardens stands out from all others. They all have similar services yet it is really about the staff that made the difference for us. Ronald the Executive Director runs a welcoming facility and you can really tell the difference with the staff that you meet. It is clear that the positive and warm attention trickles down from the top. They took the time to really listen and not just treat us a business transaction. Great staff, well maintained building and they really really do care! Trust me, contact them and you will see for yourself.

The staff at Melrose treat my mother with respect and love. The med techs to the caregivers make my mom feel special. I visit her at different times of day and I have NEVER had any concerns that I would walk in on her being abused or mistreated. One caregiver even sat with my mom one night when she couldn't sleep. The facility is small enough where each resident gets special attention. I would definitely recommend Melrose Gardens Assisted living and cottages.
