Staff ranges from pleasant to curt, but they are overworked and underpaid. They do the best they can. Administration is full of platitudes, things get lost or misplaced. No help from Admin. to find belongings or misplaced clothing. It is difficult to get a realistic picture of how my mother is doing from the admin. They underhand enact price hikes by affecting an "enhanced care" fee of $450 in an arbitrary way with no rhyme or reason other to get more money from you. This fee doesn't get mom extra or better care, nothing changed other than our coffers are getting emptied faster. UPDATE: I had to remove my mother from facility in October after she was attacked by another resident when mom wandered into her room. Mom needed 13 staples in her head. The director then informed me they were raising monthly rate to $14k she said that would give mom the care she deserved because the staff only checks on residents once every two hours. Every two hours? No wonder why I heard residents crying out for help. They are ignored. The director informed me that I needed to pay up or leave, but if I left in 30 days, she would not send eviction notice. I moved mom and that's when I discovered they had been drugging her with a drug for "mood stabilization", a drug that has side effects of tiredness, unsteadiness, and...memory loss. Yes! This was given a dementia sufferer. No wonder why mom was always tired. I noticed she had been losing her language fast. And, it answered why she was having trouble walking and fell and had to have 7 staples in her head four months before she was attacked. Mom is now in a lovely place. We tapered down the drugs in her system and she started responding well to the love and care of the new home. Meanwhile, I recently spoke with a woman that helps family place elderly, when I mentioned Adobe House/Muirwoods, she said I could have told you that. I never place anyone in Adobe.
