This community has come a long way from where it started. I have an aunt who has lived here under the previous owners who did a terrible job of managing the building and caring for residents. Since Atria took over the building is spotless, the space is brighter, staff and residents seem happier. This is the best bang for your buck in the valley. For everything they provide and what you pay compared to other senior livings I am extremely impressed.

My relative chose to live in this community a few years ago when it was Mission Hills Senior Living. The attraction to this community was the personal attention provided, especially the fact that EVERY employee was expected to know and address each resident by name. Food was good and employees appeared to be happy. It wasn't perfect (what place is) but at least the residents were made to feel respected and cared for. When this property was acquired by ATRIA a few months ago, my first clue of what was to come was that fact that many, if not most, of the outstanding employees started to look for other employment. The excellent chef and charming caregivers were among the first to go. Artwork was removed from the walls. New ATRIA employees (including management) have not made any effort to learn resident's names and they do not even smile or greet residents and visitors in passing. The food and meal service initially continued to be satisfactory, even without a chef, but has since deteriorated significantly. The popular Tuesday breakfast pastry buffet was discontinued and the long tradition of Eggs Benedict on Sundays is no longer offered. Many residents have moved out since the takeover, and it appears that Atria is attempting to save money by severely reducing the quality of the food. There have been some improvements including fresh paint on the walls and some new carpet, but the soul of this place is gone. It now just feels like an institution, clean and efficient, but no longer "homey". They are so severely understaffed that occasionally the staff handyman is tasked to help serve meals in the dining room. Since the originally reasonable prices are now rising to be the same as (or more than) other senior residences in this area, I am looking to move my relative (who had previously intended to live here permanently) to another residence with the homelike feel that originally attracted us to this facility.

Working with this location they have poor documentation, and poor communication. Refusing to give a patient medication until Primary care faxes over confirmation documentation but fax machine is down until Monday. Today is Thursday. Staff seems caring but is unwilling to properly communicate patient needs. strongly recommend a different company if your loved one has ANY medical needs.

My relative moved in to this facility about a year ago. The atmosphere at that time was warm, caring, uplifting and had great energy about the place. Activities were posted and it wasn't just about blackjack and bingo. They had a book club, they did flower arranging, and there was a case in the hallway put together by I believe a staff member with the help of the person living there about their life. So much of that atmosphere has disappeared since atria took this over February 1. I have visited my relative many times prior to atria, and several times since then. They have taken all the condiments off the tables so if you want ketchup or mustard you have to ask for it and sometimes it can take up to 20 minutes. Most of the people who serve the meals smile and are very lovely. There was one woman who was dour, it was obvious she did not like what she was doing. Of course that transmits to the people being served. My relative had a fall and needed some assistance after that. For one week she was looked at two -three times a day. But not anymore. She is on her own. The flowers have disappeared from the tables in the dining room. The place now looks like all the other assisted-living facilities we looked at before we helped our relative move into this one. We know some other facilities have movie night. Not here. So it is very disappointing to be so excited And then to watch this facility go downhill since February. . They also seem to be in completely understaffed. We are hoping soon that the promised changes will take place and it will be more like the old caring uplifting facility it once was.

Mother was there a year ago. Did not get proper attention and was given someone else's medication. Paid for proper medication dispensing. She became confused and was hallucinating within 5 days of moving in. We immediately removed her from the facility. Was disappointed because we thought we had chosen well was so impressed with the presentation but we were diligent in checking in every day and was glad we did otherwise not sure what would of happened.
