The quality of care continues to deteriorate since the community was bought by Watermark a year or so ago. Their business model seems to be based on cutting costs to the bare bone rather than retaining their residents through excellence and compassion. So sad, since it was such a wonderful place for my grandma for so many years before that. The number of aides has decreased per shift. They are understaffed and the aides can't keep up with the needs of the residents. Staff turnover has increased dramatically. We pay for assisted showers yet lately they have not even shown up on shower day! Even meds were missed a couple times. Even though a few great employees still remain, Harvard Square is losing a lot of their best staff.

The staff is either very good or very bad. The good one's can probably be counted on both hands! Half of resident helpers are mean and rude! They all need training in working with the elderly! Half of them don't speak English or an understandable version of it. There are very few medically trained people working there! No training for medical emergencies, and especially at night! One day my dad ripped his arm open trying to open a window, someone came with a bandaid! The care is hit or miss! The staff doesn't communicate with families! The food is hit and miss! Frequently, it's so bad my parents don't eat! Over-seasoned, over-cooked, undercooked, bland, cold, in general, bad cooking! Uncaring staff in kitchen & dining room. My parents have been there since December 2017, not one have they gotten the billing straight! Overbilling, underbilling then charging again! I would never recommend this place to anyone!

I really appreciate that Harvard Square goes above and beyond to ensure their residents receive the best care. They also recommend trust worthy and compassionate companies like RGA Home Health to step in whenever the residents have that need. Thanks for everything that you do!

My mother is a resident here, and she really enjoys the people living there and the people working there. But the food has gotten so bad we are actually contemplating moving her! Food is cold, food is not cooked sufficiently, and sometimes so spicy the residents can't eat it. Staff is nice and very helpful. Harvard Square does offer a variety of activities and outings.

My mother is at this facility and I have to echo the previous poster's comments. It's a bit older building but it is well kept. The staff is wonderfully friendly, the restaurant food is good and there are lots of activities all day every day. There is a library, exercise room, spa, hair dresser, large common area. Highly recommended.
