I took a tour and had lunch at Collinwood two days ago. It is pleasant and clean. The grounds and views are beautiful. The online photos don't do justice to the mountain views throughout the facility, especially from the dining hall with its grand high ceiling and abundant large picture windows. The Chicken Cacciatore meal was tasty and flavorful. It was served by eager-to-please staff members. I like the flexibility of residents being able to get served meals throughout the day. The residents' rooms that I saw varied from room-to-room. Some had wood beams and vaulted ceilings and interesting angles--not your typical cookie-cutter living quarters. It felt like home, not an institution. I chatted with about nine residents. They were all generally pleased with the staff, food, and activities. I am glad that I did not let a few old negative reviews deter me from visiting. I am strongly considering relocating my father from Florida to live here.

I've been employed by Collinwood for more than a year now, and worked in the building for 2+ years. I feel very supported by the Executive Director, and team here. I feel so blessed, all of the residents and families are wonderful. We work together as a team to support everyone here!! We are all looking forward to 2017!

If the resident is in good overall shape, Collinwood is probably a good place for them. The facility is beautiful, the food is decent (although a little like what kids eat), and there are activities to join. Unfortunately, I can not in good faith recommend Collinwood for residents needing extra attention/concern, as was the case for my family's experience. Do not expect notification if meds are missed or ordered changes are not fulfilled, even when this regularly results in issues for both the facility and for the family.

I am an employee of Collinwood Assisted Living. I cannot give the facility even one star. I love the residents and give them 100%+. There has been a total decline in the resident care in the last few months since the new Director of Health Services has been given free reins. The facility administrator either by choice turns a blind eye to the situation, and/or the Director of Health Services is a star manipulator. The residents are being neglected and abused. They do not get enough food, it got so bad that the kitchen chef manager was fired. Residents are not being toileted and often sit in urine and feces filled diapers for hours. The nurses are supposed to call the families so they can bring supplies for the residents such as diapers and wipes and it is not being done, so the floor staff does not have wipes to clean incontinent residents. Staff has to often borrow supplies from other residents. They do not staff appropriately according to the census rules so the staff is forced to cut corners, the job becomes very stressful, and quality of care suffers. The staff is grossly overworked and underpaid and many still, because of the kind of people that they are continue to invest themselves in the residents. The facility is dirty especially back in Memory Care, toilets are moldy inside the bowls or covered with excrement, the floors were dirty as we did not have a working vacuum cleaner for the better part of 8 months, even the dishes and drinking glasses are not clean. The Director of Health Services is systematically getting rid of reliable employees that have worked there for months and even years to replace them with her friends and her family members. Her goal is to have people working for her who will blindly do what she says. It does not matter to her what their qualifications are, nor the quality of their work is as long as they do what she says even it compromises resident health or safety. There are residents in the Memory Care Unit that are not appropriate to live there as are too aggressive towards other residents and staff, being sexually inappropriate towards female residents. Another problem is that there are residents who require a higher level of care that can be provided at an assisted living facility so resident health and safety is severely compromised. We fill out incident reports to let the nurses, the administrator and the Bethesda Corporation of what is going on around here and the Director of Health Services has been observed by other management shredding the documents so that corporate is not aware of the problems and she can look good by having a high census. The LPN in charge of contacting the doctors about medication orders, changes in resident's condition, transcribing orders is not doing her job, which compromises resident's health and safety. Medication errors have been made because of this: residents not getting correct dosage or if a new order comes in the residents often don't get the new medication for days sometimes weeks because it is not ordered or transcribed in the medication record. Again they have been observed shredding doctor's orders and stating the orders have not been received. The Director of Health Services only cares about power and will compromise resident care and safety to obtain and keep it. I love the residents and will not leave this job because they deserve good care and love. My only hope is that someone of power in the company will read this and do something as we are powerless, we are afraid for our jobs. Honestly, as things are at this moment I would not bring any of my aging family members here. I pray that someday soon things will get better. Meanwhile I will continue taking care of and loving the residents.

My wife has been in Collinwood in Memory Care for nearly 5 years and she has had excellent care. I would recommend Collinwood as the top facility in Fort Collins.
