My husband;s Uncle stayed in the Apollo Retirement Residence for a long time. He was very glad to stay in this residence...He liked very much the staff of the Apollo Retirement Residence .They were available at every call of my uncle in law The rooms were extremely clean. They have had many activities for the residents. Administrator is very gentle Lady I recommend this place.

I wish I had seen this sooner as I would have written this review a year ago!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, IT IS A DUMP, AND WHAT THEY DID TO MY UNCLE/GODFATHER IS ATROCIOUS!!! Rather than let my 88 year old Uncle, who suffered from dementia, come live with me in California, his younger wife (not my aunt) dumped him in this horrible place so she could go back and stay in Poland to work as she'd been doing for years. When I found out, I tried to call my Uncle numerous times and was treated extremely rudely and hung up on each time. I had to send the police over there to check on my Uncle to make sure he was, "okay." After about 6 weeks there, my Uncle was rushed by ambulance to the hospital with SEVERE DEHYDRATION and had to spend a week in the hospital!!! Apparently he wasn't being cared for properly at Apollo Gardens. When he went into the hospital the second time, I made plans to fly to Florida to see him. When I got to Apollo Gardens, I had to go get the police because the owner, who, by the way is an extremely rude, uncaring and unfeeling woman, would not let me see him. When the police went in and brought him to the front for me to see, he looked terrible. He hadn't been shaved or had a haircut in a very long time and look completely disheveled!!! That was taken care of the next day after I vehemently complained. When I came back the next day and sat outside with my Uncle, I can say that there are people sitting outside everywhere on patio furniture, but there is nothing for them to do. It smells like urine everywhere by the furniture cushions, it was horrible. There was one gentleman laying outside on a patio couch sleeping. One older, sickly woman told me that she's allowed to stay there as long as she cleans! I was NOT allowed to go in my Uncle's room, and, when I did go in to see it, the owner came and talked to my Uncle in such a way as to frighten him (remember, he had dementia), so I told my Uncle I would leave his room. I could go on and on, but I hope I have given enough information for anyone NOT to put their loved one in this HORRIBLE DUMP! I was NOT able to bring my Uncle to California because of his selfish wife and my heart was crushed when I had to leave, but, he passed away 2 months after I left, and I was so lucky to be the last person to speak to my Godfather as he slipped from this life into the next. I hope this review helps.

My Mom has been a resident of Apollo Gardens for nearly 7 years. I rest better everyday knowing she is there. She is safe and has never had better care. They treat their residents like family. Grace amd her amazing staff have made so mamy feel like they are home. I am thankful everyday She is there and that I found this wonderful place.

The facility itself appeared to be clean and well maintained. However all of the residence were just sitting outside with no activities, facing each other which I found to be odd. We were told there was a private room available by G who owns and runs the facility for my mother who is a Black Latina; which at the time on the telephone she did not know that information. After she instructed the nurse to show me (daughter) and my family around the facility upon our arrival. We expressed an interest to proceed with the room. We were told the next step was for them to meet my mother...Which we would set up for Monday since that was a Thursday. As they are connected to the Avalon in Hollywood, it is a family run business, I sent letters thanking them for their time in letting us tour their facilities...NO RESPONSE...All of a sudden we were contacted by the man that is assisting us in finding a space for my mother that, "SOMETHING CAME UP"..Someone saw the room after we did and they gave it to them. However we were never offered the option of placing a deposit as we would have done that straight away....We believe what came up was my mother did not fit their profile when we arrived in person. They never expected that we were BLACK LATINAS....Racial profiling seems to be the NAME OF THEIR GAME...STAY AWAY, VERY DISRESPECTFUL....
