I live here, and I love it. The campus is beautiful and the food is good. The landscaping suggests "old Florida," with lots of live oaks and Spanish moss and native plants, and a lake outside my lanai. If the programs were more appealing, I'd give it 5 stars, but for lively cultural activities it's necessary to leave campus. Sarasota is a lively community, so plenty of art and theater, etc. just a few minutes away. It's not the top of the line, but neither is the rent the top of the scale. Excellent value for the cost, not much more than it would cost us to live on our own, doing our own maintenance, cooking, etc. It feels like home, which it is.

My mother lives here and is very happy. She was in tears when we moved her in- against her wishes to remain independent - but her face lit up when she saw her apartment. With her own furnishings and a view of the lake, she is very comfortable and at home. If asked, she will tell you she is "very happy". Other residents have reported the same in informal chats. The apartment is sunny, has a dining room and kitchen ( 2 bedroom, 2 bath) and she has entertained here, hosted bridge games, etc. Other residents are well-dressed, upscale, and sociable (for the most part, a bit of snobbery about bridge acumen!).
