This post contains two reviews. The first for the level of care given and the second for my work experience. Care Given: My grandma had dementia and was in several assisted living and nursing homes. None of them compare to the quality of facilities, care and comfort that the homestead gives to the residents. This place is top notch! Work Experience: Working at the homestead as a caregiver is great. The managers are awesome, patient, fun loving people that know how to be a friendly boss while still expecting hard work and professionalism. You are well trained and can get as much followup training as you want. It is easy to succeed here as long as you communicate with your coworkers and management. I have always been able to get someone to cover my shift due to illness, new baby or vacation. Likewise it is easy to pick up additional hours if you need them. All in all its a great place.

My mother Dona has been a resident for more than 2 1/2 years at the Homestead. I visit her an average of 6 times a week. I know the staff and administrators well, can call them all by name. I have observed closely the operation at all hours and seasons. I cannot imagine a more ideal place for my mother to be. The medical care is excellent (Thanks, Danette and staff).. The sensitivity to all of my mother's needs is superlative; everyone there treats her like family, in the best sense. The food is excellent. (Thanks Holly and kitchen staff) The young care givers perform their work with precision, commitment, and enthusiasm. The administrators are sensitive to the concerns of residents as well as those of their families. (Thanks Dave, Sam, and Garon) The activities are fun, geared to all levels and interests (Thanks, Carolee, Lindy and helpers) Where people ask me how my mother is, after giving them a report about her, I say something like: "I'm just glad we have her at the Homestead. They really love and take care of my mother." And other people are aware of this expertise. I compare notes with other family members from previously or currently, they almost universally feel the same. When family or friends visit Dona from out of town or out of state, they almost invariably say something like, "There is really good Karma in that place." Sometimes they say, "I wish we could have a facility of this caliber where we live so we could put our loved ones there with as much confidence as you have." Over the years my mother has been at the Homestead I have never felt other than completely satisfied with the assistance they have given my mother. As her condition has worsened, if anything the care has gotten more sensitive and professional. In some ways it is a difficult thing for me to see my mother grow old, to lose much of her ability to communicate, to see her general decline. I know I am sometimes pretty tender when I see all of this in my mother. How much more wonderful to feel that my needs are being met as well those of my mother. I know that even if I were capable, I could not give better care personally than she is getting at the Homestead. I feel like I am partnered with the staff there in helping my mother finish her fine life. She deserves to be served well until the end, and she is being so served.

I have been an employee at the Homestead Assisted Living for the past 6 years. I have served as a caregiver, cook and currently as the food services manager. I have always been impressed with their business philosophy, which is: love the people you serve, and go the extra mile to show them that you do. I would say that the majority of our staff do just that, making the Homestead a unique and wonderful place to live and work. I am also impressed that the owners and management are always working on improving. Over the years, there has been an increase in training time, quality of training, amount of activities, services offered, and in my case, variety of food choices. The Homestead is a blessing in the lives of so many people, including mine.

Homestead Assisted Living is the type of home I'd like my grandparents in. It is clean, new, and smells good. The facility itself is elegant with many amenities. Most importantly, the staff care about their guests.

I currently work at the Homestead Assisted Living. It is a wonderful place to work. As a caregiver without CNA training I asked a lot of questions to my co workers when I first started working to make sure I do everything safely. I love the elderly and caring for them is a blessing in my life. The administration is kind and attentive to the needs of the residents and concerns or questions from the staff. Care plans are organized well so each resident gets what they need. The facility nurse is quick to answer calls with questions about medications or the care plan, which helps us provide the best care we can. Working with the elderly is not easy, their needs are specific and they are passing through such a hard stage of life. I am grateful to be a part of the sunset of their lives. It us a special job I am thankful to have.
