Cedar Lake Village has a warm pool in a beautiful setting. Occasionally, I teach a water class there when a sub is needed. You do not have to be a resident, you can pay a monthly fee for use of the pool. The participants love the facility so much that they are waiting for a spot to open up to move in.

My parents lived at CLV for about 3 years. In that 3 years, they received rent increases of $200 per month every January. So, in 3 years rent went from $4300 to $4900 for a 2 bedroom unit. If they would have stayed another few months, the rent likely would have been over $5000! Food (only 2 meals a day) was average at best. Housekeeping and maintenance was starting to suffer as CLV was having staffing issues. The best feature of CLV is the lake view, but that's about it. There are better, less expensive senior apartment options out there. They ended up in the Atriums in Overland Park. Not quite the same view, but a larger apartment, 3 excellent meals a day, and $500 less a month. There are more activities and bus trips at the Atiums in a day than CLV had in a month. CLV is corporate owned, so it appears the bottom line is what is most important, not quality services and keeping rent down.
