Morningside House At Satyr Hill

Our experience of 3 months at Morningside was beyond horrible. Our loved one was admitted knowing that she was in need of a extra care, more care than many others in the dementia/Alzheimer's side of the house. We were paying extra for that level of care. Examples of our horrible experience: failure to administer medications properly, failure to help with feeding, failure to wash hands before meals as we were promised, failure to provide a medical record to the POA and lying about it, failure to weigh our loved once weekly as promised, failure to suggest to send her to the ER when her respiration rate was 40, failure to inform us, on the first occasion, about hand injures, failure to properly clean and cure those wounds (their protocol is every 48 hours), it should have been done twice a day in the family's opinion. Unwelcoming faces and plain rudeness from some staff members; when asked to be seen by the doctor on a Wednesday, our loved was forgotten and never examined and the family took her to the ER on the weekend to discover two infections in her body; plain negligence and lack of care. Room dirty, toothbrush incredibly nasty on top of the failure to clean her teeth daily. Failure to have a locked box in her room for over 20 days, as stated by law, that is to contain some specific supplies. Failure to shower her twice a week as promised, failure to wash her clothes twice a week as promised. I could go on and on and worst of all we never saw the president, and we were there many times, walk around the building saying hi to he residents. No wonder the whole place is in chaos, there's no supervision, no accountability. Lots of staff there come to work at Morningside not because they love what they do, but because it pays their bills. What a misery to be doing a difficult job that you don't like. Enough!

I recently rated Morningside with one star, and I apologize to the staff, residents, and the company. I made that error after swiping to my next rating, not realizing my mistake. Morningside is a facility that is full of energy. The staff greets you warmly at the door, and speaks to the residents on a first name basis, which shows a sense of bonding between them. I rate the facility with four stars, because with my knowledge of some of the staff and residents, and my time visiting there, I think PRN staff is needed. With the extra staff, it will allow flexibility for days off or emergency call outs, with schedules that are already set. It would ensure that the staff isn't so easily burned out with covering other shifts, and that patients don't feel any lack of services or help. Doing so, would also help to continue to make the core values, C.H.A.R.T. , stand out even more than it already is! Along with following the core values, and caring out the lifestyle mission, I love the environment that Morningside gives. They are extremely attentive to the residents, have built trusting relationships with them, and have allowed my family to be apart of it. My two kids have come by to visit, often telling the residents jokes, held conversations about their day in school, and played instruments with them. I appreciate the staff and Morningside for all that they do.
