About Lakewood Assisted Living
We offer gracious assisted living in a beautifully appointed private home, where our family and staff are dedicated to providing the highest level of comprehensive care for you or a member of your family.
Lakewood is known throughout Southwest Michigan as a health care company that provides extraordinary care while enhancing the quality and enjoyment of daily life for our residents, families and friends. We offer the lifestyle you want along with the care you need.
Lakewood has the ambiance and personal service you'd find in an upscale bed and breakfast or a small resort. But Lakewood also specializes in providing comprehensive care for most illnesses and injuries, including complicated health issues. The following list represents a small portion of our capabilities. Please call us to discuss your special care needs.
Lakewood is a private family home for people who need assistance ranging from help with activities of daily living to skilled care. Our home is also ideal for people simply desiring to live an active, social happy life and do not require assisted care. Living is leisurely. We offer flavorful, home-cooked meals that meet each of our resident's dietary requirements. There are many options to choose from every day including fitness, spiritual, social, musical, cultural and educational activities.
Steve and Becky Bakken, RN-BC in Gerontological Nursing, are the owners in residence.Becky's lifetime of experience is specialized in the areas of intensive care, hospice care, visiting nurse care, and gerontological care.

Until her recent death, my sweet mother-in-law was cared for in Lakewood for the last four years of her life. I cannot image that there is a better quality, more caring place for anyone in need of assistance. (Indeed - if I broke something serious and needed to be in a care facility for a while, I would have myself taken directly to Lakewood even though it is on the other side of the state from my home.) The facility is really a large, beautiful, home with a very small clientele (only 4 ladies until recently). The staff, headed by owner Registered Nurse Becky, gets to know every aspect of each person's personality and needs. The residents eat the same food that Becky and her family eat. My mother-in-law's room was large and private. My father-in-law kept a fold-up cot in her closet and would spend a night with her frequently. Also, he could arrange to eat his meals with her at a very reasonable cost. They also have an extra kitchen on the lower level and I would occasionally bring what I needed to have a private dinner for just our family. If you worry about turning a loved one over to a care facility, you would have no fears with Lakewood.
