My 91 year old mom who is blind due to macular degeneration was in here. She fell at her assisted living place and went to Fraser Villa for Physical and Occupational therapy. She is in a wheel chair and has more problems then when she first arrived. She got cuts on both shins of her legs because I believe the aids forget all the time that she is blind. When she gets a shower, they didn't change the bandages. I know this because they put the dates on top of the bandages. When we were there, they forgot to get her for dinner in the dining area, so I brought her down. When you ask about these things, they just say they are sorry. One time they completely for got to get my mom for dinner and when they remembered, she was sitting by herself in the dining room after everyone left just eating cottage cheese and some fruit, because that is what they had left. My sister found her there sitting alone. The nurses are always on there computers. It is hard to get an answer from any of them. Some of the aids are nice, but others seem like your bothering them. Many other sloppy mistakes too. So if you do decided on this place, you better plan on being there all the time to stay on top of them. They won't like that either . I will say the physical and occupational therapy was good, but the living area needs to communicate with each other and family.

I would NEVER send a loved one to this rehab facility, especially if they have suffered from a stroke! I have served in the military for over 28 years and have never seen such blatant disregard for concerns and complaints! I toured this facility based on their 5 star rating and thought it was great, because my father would have his own room. After my father suffered stroke like symptoms, he was sent to this facility for rehab. Within two weeks of staying there he had become lethargic and unresponsive. I requested simple blood tests, etc and when asked for the results from the LPNs, I was rudely told he was fine. After another week, I trusted my gut instinct and requested an ambulance to take him back to the hospital. He was immediately admitted into the hospital. According to the ER Doc, he could not understand why his medical issues were not caught by the medical staff at the rehab center. After spending two weeks in the hospital he was forced to go back to Fraser Villa, because according the hospital, it was the only facility that would accept him with his medical condition. After spending about 10 days there, I learned from my father that the night time aide had been hitting him and he wanted to get out of there. I thought maybe he misunderstood, so I went and talked to the man across the hall and his daughter who were friends of mine and asked if they had the same concern. She said, she reported the aide a week ago for verbally berating and threatening her father. The rehab center's solution was to remove him as her father's aide. (We later found out that the aide had returned to her father's room at night and threatened him again for reporting him). I immediately reported it to management. They later came in to investigate and my father reported how the aide punched him in the face and his name started with "D". When they were done, I asked them if the abuse was confirmed would they report it to the state. They said, "they may or may not report it." I was concerned this person could possibly go to another facility and do the same thing to someone else. I then contacted the Fraser Police Department and it is currently under investigation. My father told me, he did not feel safe there and concern for his safety, I brought him home that day. Before I left, senior management came up to me and asked why did I call the police and not give them the chance to resolve the issue. I explained to her I did not feel confident in their process to resolve issues and if they would have resolved the situation appropriately with the man across the hall my father would never have been abused.

Fraser Villa is a beautiful facility and the private rooms allow patients to rest comfortably and feel at home. The staff is very helpful although the receptionist seems to have an "attitude" on a regular basis. While the nurses are competent and offer good care, they can be very loud in the hallways often forgetting that patients are trying to rest in the rooms right next to them. I'm sure this is due to their familiarity in the workplace but it is still very inconsiderate of those trying to rehabilitate. Overall, the facility is excellent. The staff could use a little work with communication and rapport with family members. How about introducing yourself and welcoming the family when you see them? How about explaining their care and how we can help? Your job may be routine but it's a new and often intimidating experience for many of your patients and their caretakers. An area that could use some work.
