My mom recently moved into memory care here. She is receiving great care. The rooms and grounds are very nice with many places to sit and relax or talk with others. We really like the staff, beginning with the executive director on down to the nurses and aides working with our mom. They are on top of Mom's needs and keep the communication lines open with us so we can be in the loop. I would highly recommend The Rivers!

Before considering this facility be aware that they do not even provided walk in bathtubs/showers in all apartments ( some apartments do have them). We were told they do not intend to upgrade the apartments that currently do not have them. This seems like a very basic way to show they care for the safety of their residents. Their website says safety is important to them, but apparently not important enough if it is going to cost them money. We had however been told that the resident or family can pay to have one installedi which we would do except it is costly to have it removed when the resident moves from that apartment and my guess is The Rivers will not be happy to find it had been removed. Also,. If you do have any issues, just a heads up; the current Executive director is not responsive; however that may be because she seems to be out of the office at seminars and conferences often and opts to not check or reply to emails, but hopefully she is learning a lot. Go to her boss and you will get a quick response and will be directed to someone who will be able to assist you.

We moved my mother-in-law into The Rivers about a year ago. In the beginning, it was fine: the staff was attentive, she made friends, and was starting to enjoy her new (very, very small) apartment. This past winter, they had a Norovirus outbreak, and everything changed. The staff would not tell residents what was happening, and my mother-in-law couldn't leave her apartment for a month. Both my husband and I became deathly ill after a visit, because-again-no one on the staff let anyone know about the Norovirus outbreak. Being forced to remain in her tiny apartment for a month resulted in a rather pronounced deterioration of my mother-in-law's physical abilities. We are currently looking to remove my mother-in-law from The Rivers, and get her into a facility that actually cares about their residents. She needs a calm, safe environment, not a stressful one. She needs a staff that does what they are supposed to do. And we need a facility that doesn't double bill, or try and charge for items and/or services they refuse to provide. We would not recommend The Rivers as it is now. Extremely high staff turnover, skeleton crews on holidays, uncommunicative supervisors, and their billing practices border on illegal.

Tina monsour and the entirety of this staff are morally reprehensible, they shouldn't be trusted with the care of animals let alone our parents and grandparents

Although the facilities are nice and most of the staff are friendly, I would not recommend this place if you require any amount of assistance or anticipate needing help in the future, particularly memory care. The facility is not well run. From the beginning there were many misses, such as lost forms, etc. When our aunt moved to memory care, we discovered they were not really equipped to care for her. The staff called us frequently, often asking us to come and deal with our aunt. In one 24 hour period, we were called 3 times and had to go out to help. We decided to move our aunt to a different facility. She is now thriving. We are happy we made the decision to move her, even though it meant paying 2 months of fees to The Rivers after she relocated.
