It's taken me a VERY LONG time to put this review in...On the outside this seemed like a well equipped place to put mom who was suffering dementia. She was there not even a year, maybe 8 months..I wanna first start with staff, there were good people who really cared for their patients, but upper management seemed to limit them. Hostile work environment and high turn over. Then the problems began...mom was aggressive from the disease and some staff understood and some just had no patience for it. I'm gonna just put facts in this review and limit my emotions. Mom had several falls here. Now I know some will say that's what happens..however it was so excessive that the State was investigating instances and my mom was one their cases...she had fallen, broke 4 ribs and was hospitalized several times. The hospitalization was not initiated by the facility but by her family members after discovering that she had pain and could verbally say she had fallen. We had SEVERAL discussions about the lack of cleanliness in her room...and how staff was instructed to not speak to family about what happens within the building...leaving mom on the floor for hours, and not until an angel of a staff member took upon herself to rectify the situation..and then was in trouble for telling me. Management disputes the fall...needless to say we began the process of removing mom from LifeSpire, Oakland and on that day discovered mom was again in pain...we had her removed by ambulance to hospital and discovered the reason for her pain was a medication given to her by the in house doctor that DID NOT NOTIFY FAMILY or PRIMARY DOCTOR that was shutting down her kidneys... We NEVER WENT BACK and found another placement for her...but by that time she had digressed from being able to speak, walk and being a semi-functional person to non verbal, 2 person hold patient. She passed October 8, 2018. This establishment does not put family first and keeps information from the family when an open door policy is what you want from the place you are sending your loved one. That CLEARLY DID NOT HAPPEN in moms case!! Be very aware and cautious!!!

My mother spent her last year and a half at Life Spire. The staff was very loving and caring with my mom. They loved her and she loved them. The food was good and accommodating to people's tastes. They had activities such as chair yoga on Wednesday and Water coloring every other week or so. My mom was happy there. I will say that sometimes I thought they were a little short staffed, but all in all we were very happy with this facility. When my mom passed, many of the staff cried with us and some even came to her funeral. Thank you Life Spire.

Last December, I was in tears about finding a place for my elderly mother. I had visited many places and none were acceptable to me in the price category that we could afford. Three months ago, I was given "Life spire" phone number on a list for assisted livings. When I called I got Carol Lynn on the other end. When I told her our story she was genuinely concerned and by the end of our conversation she said, "Don't you worry!..." and she invited us for a tour. She has a real passion for what she does and when you are in a situation like this, you need someone who really cares. My mom moved in! I was very skeptical, I was looking for a miracle and Mr. R (Manager) was the angel that came in to help us. less than a week later, we realized that we made the right decision for my mom. My mom is very happy. Staff are skilled and they respect residents. They are friendly like a big family. I highly recommend Life spire Assisted Living at NE acres.

Our mother was at the Life Spire on Oakland and we could not have been happier with them. The place felt like home. The staff was kind and compassionate and took wonderful care of her. We had several family gatherings there and visited her several times a week and we could see she was happy and well taken care of. They had good food and regular activities which kept her engaged and active. Her final years were better than we could have hoped, full of fun experiences and kind and caring people.

Several months ago we had to make a very difficult decision to find a facility that would provide our dearest friend with the kind of care that she needed. We had to completely take her from the comfort and security of a home that she lived in for over 40 years and put her where she honestly didn't want to be. We looked at multiple facilities but found the Life spire facility NE offered everything that we wanted and that she needed. We moved Jacquelyn in and from the very minute the staff provided her with a home atmosphere with a friendly environment that she needed. This is a kind, warm, and considerate facility with a gentle staff. It only took her a few days to realize that this was a great place to be and that she really is enjoying her time. Jacquelyn had some health challenges but with outstanding care that she received we were able to have her around for months longer than any physician gave her. I commended this facility for esthetics and programs that are A+ as are the manager Ryan and employees and their obvious dedication to doing an outstanding job. The Life spire facility NE Acres is above and beyond any of our expectation and our friend just loved it here. Again, I would highly recommend the Life spire facility to anyone looking to provide their loved one with the best care around.
