I give this location a one star because of unorganization, untrustworthy But the establishment is very beautiful and the residents are wonderful well for the ones I did get the chance to interact with. So let's take a few steps back I got hired here March 8, 2019. I believe, I can't remember the exact date but I was hired the first week of March. I was hired for Medication Aide/NurseAide 2pm-10pm. On my first day I was called to the director office Ms.Jackie. In her office sat my supervisor Jamla they asked how I liked it and then asked me if I would like to work the 6am-2pm shift. I took the offer. But still wasn't giving a schedule was just told when to come in. Now fast forward: I was employed for 4 days now. A new hire starts so now she is in training with me. She had gotten her name badge, clock in number, and schedule that day and me being there 4 days haven't received nothing but a shirt. That same day I was asked to come to Jackie office and again Jamla is there. She ask Jamla if she would like to say.... (I'm looking like what's going on) She proceeds to say the 6 to 2 shift has been filled. (How SHEISTY is that in my thoughts) Can you go back to 2-10. I couldn't because circumstances changed once I took the offer of 6a-2p. I was appalled!!! Then she say we'll see if any other location has that shift available. I was lost for words. But I said ok. The next day I called she said they couldn't place me anywhere so they were just going to figure something out. I was asked to come in Sunday this past Sunday. I went into work I was giving a hall I was not trained on. I didn't know how to care for my residents but I took care of them off experience the best way I knew how. I've also notice I've only worked 1 position that my offer letter say. Thats the nurse aide! I'm a medication aide to help assist with the aides. So they played me on that too. I've been licensed 3 years to pass medication in St.Louis Mo.This year would have been 4! It's an Medication aide there that has to do medication for the entire assisted living halls most days. I was employed here for 3 weeks not once they asked me to assist her. But had no problem throwing me on the floor with resident I wasn't even train on how to care for though. Later on Jackie gets an email complaint about me not getting someone mom up at the time the daughter requested. I explain I wasn't trained for that hall. (So who's fault is that? Lbvs) So she say I'm going to have you to come Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, to train the 2 hall you haven't trained on. Then finally gives me a schedule. It only took 2 weeks!!! Lol Now Monday comes supposedly I was suppose to work remind you she already told me Sunday before I left the days she wanted me to come in for. So I didn't felt the need to look at my schedule at that time. It's not hard to remember Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. So I received a text messages from Jackie (director) asking if I quit I said no. She said you were on the schedule to work today. We begin to text back and forth (In my thoughts how professional is this?) but I apologize for the misunderstanding. But my thoughts were I'm on the schedule to work a shift but in the same token I'm still in training??)...Mind puzzled! Make it make sense!!! But she wrote nothing until hours later telling me I was taking off the schedule. I was dismayed!! I simply thanked her for the opportunity and I did let her know how unorganized they are. But no harm feeling I'm in school for Pharmacy Tech and business school and this here location isn't business oriented at all. A lot of foul play is done here. Nobody knows nothing but everyone butt kisser's just run to tell on each other about nothing. It doesn't even be considering the resident's. I've notice the foul plays within 3weeks of being hired here. I've lived in Dallas for 7 month now I've never experienced what I have experienced here at Brookdale (besides one other)with any assisted livings I've worked for. Maybe this a Texas thing! Disorganized!! Untrustworthy!!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!! My father came here last October he was placed in the memory care unit, not the nice pictures you see out front , he had a tiny space in a shared room. The staff would pull him up by his arms ripping his skin , he had a heart attack there a week and a half before he had the the one that killed him there , vomiting constantly in his last few days of life , no one noticed , no one checked , he was just left there ignored , he was a WW2 veteran but because he had Alzhiemers was treated worse than a dog , pass this place up like the plague, this is corporate greed stealing money from the helpless , Texas Dept of Health and Human services has been notified

All of my living grandparents currently live at Brookdale Lake Highlands and we love it. They are well taken care of and loved on by the staff. They have made friends with the other residents and truly enjoy going to the activities provided by the wonderful staff. They all instantly felt like they were at home, which was huge! We love Brookdale Lake Highlands and all the caring and kind staff that care for my family members.

The primary concern of the director is profit. Constantly understaffed while my Mother was there. The employees do the best they can with what they have.

As a current resident here at Brookdale Lake Highlands, I must say that it is a wonderful place to meet and make new friends. The Brookdale Life Enrichment Program keeps us entertained and active. The staff is always very helpful when needed.
